I recently saw all the videos from this Liam Sullivan guy. After watching them on his Youtube channel, I realized I had heard that shoes song done in a remix somewhere. That Kelly spoof music stuff is kinda funny and ok, but I really dig the Mother Grandma stuff, and this Kelly the Vampire stuff. I don’t know why, but they crack me up. So check this Liam guy out. I guess he got the Kelly song on TRL or something, and won some kids choice award. God knows it coulda been 5 years ago for all I know….but even if I am late on seeing this, it’s worth the time to check out.

Although reggie woulda been 600 million times more exciting….the miniature tigers was the opening band, and they were great. I heard them while hanging at patrick’s radio show, and they were great live. (Please forgive the crappy iphone pics. The troubadour doesn’t normally let cameras in, so I left mine at home. I saw a crapload of people with cameras tho….)

Like I said, they played a lot of their later songs (some of which I’ll be honest, I don’t think I ever heard….prolly cause with on a wire and guilt show, I listened to them maybe twice through before shuffling them somewhere in a pile of cd’s). The oddest thing was, the crowd knew them and were stoked. Very odd. I have to say tho, it was the older songs that everyone freaked out about.

Red Letter Day, 10 Minutes, Ann Arbor, Mass Pike, Holiday, etc etc. It was fun to hear all these songs again. The best part about the show was that it wasn’t one of those reunion shows where it was constantly “yeah we broke up 5 years ago…”, “shit I forgot how to play this song…I fucked up”, blah blah all. All that pretending like it’s a chore to play the songs again. They were playing like it was one of their old shows…only with one exception….they played for a good hour and forty five minutes!!! Impressive. They didn’t even sound bad (well, I’m sure that’s arguable to my non-get up kids loving friends…haha).

The show was also weird cause we got some bullshit “vip” sticker things. Not sure why or how, but the cool thing about it was a non-crowded bar and bathroom upstairs. That was really the only perk. And I guess Keith said some dude from my chemical romance was up there too…but I wouldn’t recognize him from anyone else on the street, and honestly, don’t care. heh Well, unless he had been in the bathroom when I had to pee…then I woulda cared a little.

All in all, great show. To my friends who were apathetic and didn’t get tickets before it sold out…you missed out. To my friends who flaked on me forcing me to sell my second ticket to some poor kid begging for tickets by the door…you missed out too! And most of all, to Josh who didn’t fly down for the show….well…you know. you missed out!

This love is for my Mamiyaflex C2! Oh how I love thee. When the test rolls I took in Portland to make sure that you functioned properly came back, I was filled with a joy only few men know. I will be getting you your own key made tonight…the key to my heart…

Ok. I think I thoroughly went too far with that…but I did want to post about my Mamiyaflex. I got real lucky with it. I had been looking for a medium format twin lens camera for a while, and started to actively look on Ebay. For anything that wasn’t a plastic body (kinda like the Lomo or Holga of Twin Lens Reflex cameras) the prices were kinda outrageous. Horribly beaten up 2nd and 3rd tier models…..or immaculate Rolleiflex’s for a few grand!

In this desperation for an affordable TLR camera, I started calling local stores. I was thinking it was just a useless exercise, since usually, local stores were more expensive than online resources. Yet somehow (I blame it on the economy….just like everythingelse) I foundone at this used camera store for a little over $100 bucks. I made the guy agree to give me a full refund if the test rolls came back with any light bleed or anything, but thankfully…the camera is great and the pictures look fine. There might be a SLIGHT problem with the seals, but I can’t tell if it was just a reflection from mist on the lens.

In any case, I scanned my pics from Portland, and I wanted to put a few up. I scanned them on a high quality office scanner, so unfortunately you can see the lines on the photo paper (note to self, don’t scan at 600dpi…it’s too much).

Lemme know what you think. Also, does anyone know of a cheap way to scan medium format (120) film? I know you can buy scanners, or have them scanned, but I would like to get to a point where I could just pay for development, and any prints I want.

This is a shot of the second largest waterfall in the united states. Pretty amazing fact huh? So amazing, I can’t remember the name of the waterfall in fact! heh Anyway, Josh might be able to fill us all in on the name. It was pretty sweet, and since I couldn’t get a shot of the whole thing from the bottom (and it was too god damn cold and rainy to treck to the top) I decided to take a slightly long exposure pic of the bottom part. I like how it came out.

And one of my other favorite shots is one I took of Josh on the way up to the hill overlooking Portland.

It was kinda crazy cause not only were we all of a sudden in a crazy wooded area, but it also started hailing…so to fit in with the creepiness, I took an awkward pic of Josh on the side of the road.

Here’s a recepie for an outta’ this world delicious banana bread.  It will definitely rock your socks right of.

Here’s what you’ll need:

–> 3-4 bananas, really ripe

–> 1/2 cup oil

–> 2 eggs

–> 1 tsp vanilla

–> 1 cup flour

–>1 tsp baking soda

–> 1/4 tsp salt

–> 3/4 cups sugar

–> 3/4 cups walnuts

1. Preheat oven to 350 F

2. Mash the bananas in a bowl and then add the oil, eggs, sugar and vanilla.  Mix with a spoon.  Don’t over mix tho!

3.  In a seperate bowl mix the flour, baking soda and salt together.

4.  Slowly add dry ingredients to your wet ingredients and mix with a spoon.  Don’t over stir!

5.  Once everything is added mix in the walnuts.

6.  Grease and flour your bread pan.

7. Bake @ 350 for 1 hour.

8.  Enjoy!!!

Anyway, I better stop myself before I go off on this topic. I’m sure there will be a long post about it at some point. But I will leave you with this video, in honor of Patrick and Limbeck. It’s pretty fucking amazing!!!! I love it!

They did one show a few weeks back in Kansas City, and according to their post on their website, they played Something to Write Home About straight through. Rumor has it, they will be doing the same for this show. All I can say is, anything will be greatly appreciated and enjoyed (unless they only play Guilt Show or whatever songs they came out with after Something to Write Home about!)

Another Rumor I heard (which I am hoping is true..but have a feeling isn’t) is that Reggie and the Full Effect will be opening up for them old school style…meaning James with the rest of the band backing him, not with other backup musicians.

In any case, it’s gonna be a fun show, and if you can finagle tickets somehow, you should go! I’ll be there. You can say hi. We can exchange awkward hellos. It’ll be amazing.

This being the first installment of the Monday Find, I am both pleased and horrified to pass this one on. This is a video I was shown quite a while ago, but I have noticed it popping back up in myspace and facebook posts recently. Personally I don’t think I can really put into words how this video makes me feel. I remember the first time I saw it I watched it with my mouth slightly open, and a look on my face much like when I first saw the 2girls1cup video (and yes, this video disgusts me almost as much).

The video in question is from a “band” called Brokencyde called “Freaxxx”.  Honestly the only way I would find this acceptable, is if I saw some home video footage from a year before the band was formed, where everyone involved was either drunk or high, talking about how they wanted to fuck with the recording industry. They would then have to outline a plan of what the most obnoxiously horrible music would be (boring, cheesey, vocoder dance music with some “screamo” flavoring thrown in there). I would also want a long tirade of horrible fashion and hair cuts to explain how ridiculous they look. I think if that video was played for me, I would then be able to accept Brokencyde, and even somewhat endorse them.

The sad reality tho, is I bet they are 100% serious about this, and when approached about their band, think they are fucking amazing and deserve whatever money the music industry is giving them. (I hope it’s hardly anything…tho I fear at least a few luxury cars have been purchased). :/
